About The Guilford Keeping Society
The Guilford Keeping Society collects artifacts and archives related to the history of Guilford. Our two museums house a multitude of artifacts. An extensive collection of Guilford historic photographs, journals, daybooks and other memorabilia are available to the public for research or browsing in the Historical Room at the Guilford Free Library and the Archives Room at the Medad Stone Tavern Museum.
A wealth of history is shared through exhibits, lectures, tours and educational activities. Membership is open to the public and donations are greatly appreciated as they assist the Guilford Keeping Society in maintaining its properties and sustaining its various programs, such as Early Guilford Days.
Our Mission: To collect, preserve and share the history of Guilford, Connecticut for present and future generations.

Preserve
The Keeping Society operates two museums including eight outbuildings and extensive grounds. The Library Committee maintains our archives and digitizes them for future use. Members of that committee also assist people doing research and desiring copies of our photos. Many historic images are now available online through our digital archived collections.

The Guilford Keeping Society shares the wealth of history through exhibits, lectures, tours and educational activities. We cooperate with all the museums in town, the Guilford Garden Club, the Guilford Free Library, Guilford School system and the Guilford Preservation Alliance to make Guilford's history accessible. Our website and Facebook channel allow the public to view our museums and photos, as well as help promote education.
